Omega-3 Fatty Acids

Omega-3 fatty acids are needed for almost every organ in your pet’s body to function as well as possible, particularly those in the immune system. Without Omega-3s, your pet runs the risk of conditions like dry, itchy skin, as well as recurring ear infections, and degenerative conditions, such as arthritis and inflammatory bowel disease.

It’s also important for pets to have a higher ratio of Omega-3s to Omega-6s in their diet, much like what they would get in the wild. Carna4 gets much of its Omega-3s from sprouted flaxseed, which delivers a higher concentration than other ingredients and in an optimal ratio to Omega-6s. This is supplemented with Omega-3s from fresh salmon to give your pet an ideal mix of these fatty acids, including EPA, DHA and Arachidonic Acid.

These exceptionally high levels of Omega-3 fatty acids can help your pet in many ways, such as:

  • Improved immunity against infection
  • Less tenderness in the joints
  • Reduced dandruff and dry, patchy skin
  • Enhanced beauty & luster in your pet’s coat
  • Stronger bones, nails and teeth
  • Eased inflammatory conditions, including arthritis

It’s worth noting The Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association published a series of studies in early 2010, on the possible benefits of food with high Omega-3 fatty acid concentrations for dogs with osteoarthritis. According to one of the authors: “These studies demonstrate that feeding a food containing omega-3 fatty acids to a dog with osteoarthritis significantly improves mobility and quality of life.”

With Carna4, dogs also get increased natural fiber and active enzymes from sprouted flaxseed, which you don’t find in Omega-3s
from fish and fish oils that most pet food manufacturers use as their Omega-3 sources.
